Our Team Hospital Administrator

Barbara Bottaro, MS, AHT, RVT
Barb has spent 33 years as a veterinary technician and hospital manager. Her creativity, love of animals and ability to create cohesive teams make the position of hospital administrator both challenging and extremely enjoyable. She has an undergrad and graduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is certified as both an Animal Health Technician (AHT) and a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). She has 2 grown children, Chris and Jen, and shares her home with 3 newfoundland dogs, “Hades”, “Halo”, & "Wally". She trains and shows her newfs in conformation, obedience, water rescue, draft work, and for pet therapy. Other hobbies include artwork, gardening and riding her Honda motorcycle!

Veterinary Technicians

Sue Hanson, CVT
Sue has been working in the veterinary field for 16 years, and comes to the Whippany Vet Hospital from a large veterinary specialty practice. She is responsible for our surgery and dental program, and attends continuing education courses on anesthesia, pain control, advanced dentistry and many others. Her special interests lie in animal communication; especially reducing pet’s anxiety during surgical and dental procedures. She has been a wonderful addition to our staff, and has made many positive changes to our surgical and pain control protocols. She lives in Parsippany with her husband Kirk.

Shenika Edmunds, BA
Shenika has been employed as a veterinary technician at Whippany Vet Hospital for over 6 years, and worked for another small animal practice for 3 years before that. Shenika usually spends her time assisting clients and doctors during appointments; and she specializes in client education and supervises our in-house laboratory. She has a special interest and a certification in nutrition, and runs our pet weight loss program. Her roommate is “Sparky”, a rescued yorkie. Her interests include puppy and kitten care, home repair, and reading.

Kara Bellissimo, GVT
Kara joined our team in the summer of 2009. She graduated from Johnson College with an Associates Degree in Science: Veterinary Technology. She lives in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with friends. She shares her home with her 3 Labrador Retrievers and guinea pig, Geena.

Ivonne Lozano, BA
Ivonne has been with us since the summer of 2009. Before starting full time at Whippany Veterinary Hospital, she worked as a technician at an emergency veterinary hospital. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kayla, and 3 dogs, Mulan, Neji, & Kyra. She has her Bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Chemisrty. She plans to further her education and has a special interest in Neonatals.

Claire Matherly
Claire has been a part of our team since August of 2008. She is currently attending Raritan Valley Community College, pursing a degree in Veterinary Technology. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter, listening to country music, and baking. She shares a home in Branchburg with her mixed breed rescue dog "Roxy”.

Sydney Whitefleet - Senior
Sydney has been employed as a veterinary receptionist and veterinary assistant since January of 2005. Originally from Jefferson Twp., NJ; she spent time in Florida and Maine before returning to the "Garden State". She resides in Stockholm with a German Shorthair Pointer named "Jersey" and is the proud mom of a Rottweiler named "Cyan" and a mixed breed named "Rembrandt". Her interests include photography and cars, especially her Volkswagen.

BJ Mistick
BJ joined the staff of Whippany Veterinary Hospital in July of 2006, and brings many years of office experience and a great ‘southern accent’ to her position here! She shares her home in Lake Hiawatha with her husband, 2 children, and 2 schnauzers, “Betty Boo” & “Mika”, and “Sambo Lucas” the cat. In her spare time, BJ enjoys kayaking and many other outdoor activities.

Christine Zuk
Christine joined our team in the Fall of 2009. She is a native of Australia, and moved to the U.S. in 2004. She lives Parsippany with her husband, Alan, and 7 cats. In her spare time she enjoys cuddling with her kitties and motorcycle riding with her husband. She brings the "no worries" attitude to the team and we are fortunate to have her as part of our hospital.

Giulia Bertoli
Giulia Bertoli has been part of our team since the Winter of 2010. She attends the Morris County School of Technology and is studying Veterinary Science. She was born in Brescia, Italy and speaks fluent Italian. In her free time she enjoys making her firends laugh and playing tennis. She has a Yorkshire Terrier name Kawaii.
